How to Use Hand Sanitiser

In today’s current environment, personal hygiene and more importantly good hand hygiene has never been more important. It is one of the most important things we can do to protect ourselves and stop the spread of COVID-19.

Although there are no official recorded cases, experts believe you can catch the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) by touching anything contaminated with the virus and then touching your face. According to a New South Wales study most people touch their face around 2 times and hour!

Hand sanitisers are convenient to use when you can’t wash your hands for example, after you have touched a surface in public like a grocery cart. But washing your hands with soap and warm water should always be your first option and especially if your hands are dirty or contaminated e.g. you have sneezed or coughed into them.

The majority of hand sanitisers contain alcohol (60% and 95%) as alcohol is known to be able to kill most germs.

The World Health organisation and the NZ Ministry of Health recommends a hand sanitiser with at least 60% alcohol to kill the maximum number of bacteria and viruses.

WHO recommends applying a palmful of sanitiser in a cupped hand covering all surfaces, then rub palms together, interlacing fingers, then back of hands and don’t forget thumbs. Once dry, your hands are safe.

Both Green Kleen and Microban which we sell contain 70% alcohol. What’s the difference? Green Kleen is more liquid and comes with a fliptop lid, Microban is more gel and comes in a pump.
