Odorex works on contact with the source of the odour — if you don't know exactly where the smell is coming from, you can't apply enough product to the right spot. Old or dried urine is invisible to the naked eye but shows up clearly under UV light. Finding the exact location means one targeted treatment rather than guessing and over-applying.

For cat urine on carpet or porous surfaces, use Cat Odour Eliminator — a pour-on formula designed to soak through to the source. For general pet odours on other surfaces, use Animal Odour Eliminator spray. For large areas or multiple animals, use Pet Cleanup Concentrate.

It works best on carpets, soft furnishings, mattresses and light-coloured hard floors. Some surfaces and fabrics may not fluoresce as clearly — always use in a fully darkened room for best results. Because this torch is more powerful, it will also reveal other fluorescent materials (not just urine) — see the How to Use section for how to tell them apart.

Finding stains:
1. Wait until it's dark and turn off all the lights.
2. Let your eyes adjust for at least 30 seconds, then move slowly through your home. Areas with pet urine will glow a dull yellow-green to white colour.
3. This torch is more powerful than our previous model, so it will also pick up other fluorescent materials around your home (detergent residue, some fabrics, minerals and certain plastics can glow too). If you're not sure whether you've found urine, treat it as a suspect area and keep comparing against areas you know are clean.
4. Treat contaminated areas with Cat Odour Eliminator, Animal Odour Eliminator or Pet Cleanup Concentrate depending on the type and severity of the problem.

Checking your pet's skin rather than your floors? Ringworm (a fungal skin infection) also fluoresces under UV light — typically a bright yellow-green glow concentrated on the fur or skin itself, which looks different from the duller, more diffuse yellow-green-to-white glow of dried urine on carpet or fabric.

Charging:
1. Open the cover at the base of the torch to reveal the USB-C port.
2. Connect the included USB-C cable to charge.
3. Once fully charged, close the cover before use.
